Stars for Our Troops
Many of you have seen and questioned our Stars for Troops Stars that we hand out at events. Well, here’s everything you need to know!
We are proud to be registered Star Makers for Stars for Troops, which began as a charity organization in Troy, NY, in 2010. Susan Wells, along with a group of WWII veterans and their families, started giving out embroidered stars to service members and veterans in their community as a gesture of gratitude. The concept was embraced by the community, leading to its growth. Stars for Troopsextends its appreciation to military members, veterans, and first responders, providing them with mementos that honor their dedication to our communities..
But isn’t it wrong to cut the American Flag?
In most cases, yes. However, an exception is made for this honorable token of gratitude. The stars are crafted solely from embroidered American flags that are no longer fit to fly—retired from service. The stars are carefully removed from the flags, withall remaining pieces collected and disposed of appropriately, in accordance with American flag protocol.
The Stars for Troops initiative symbolizes that our flag has witnessed many pivotal moments in our lives. It stands as a significant emblem of freedom, liberty, and dedication, particularly for our service members and first responders. This token provides a tangible reminder of gratitude that can be carried through life's many challenges.
All of us in this life need something that we can hang on to, because life can be unpredictable.. For those unsure of what that might be, this offers a meaningful choice. A reminder to be proud of who you are and what you have accomplished..
Veterans and First Responders are close to home for Knotted Freedom, Chris being a Marine Veteran serving 2 combat tours and Kate being an Emergency Room Nurse for nearly 10+ years at the local hospital. We enjoy the connection point these stars offer everyone in the community at our local events!
So we can continue to support this amazing cause, we do accept embroidered American Flags that are no longer able to be flown. . Please reach out for more questions about donation.
